Description
What stories can the body tell through posture? What stories can we capture through drawing?
In a traditional figure drawing class, a model is hired to sit in various poses for the aspiring artists. But, in this workshop all the artists are the models. Each participant will get a chance to pose however they choose while the rest of the participants draw them in their unique pose.
The session begins with half an hour of light movement to warm up. This will be followed by an hour and a half of drawing exercises around the human figure.
The study and practice of human figure drawing is usually passive. By having the artists also model we can observe the human body in a much more dynamic and meaningful way.
We aim to draw people that tell stories through their posture. We strive to capture figures that express emotions and that demand a little extra effort from the model and the person drawing it. We explore different perspectives of drawing and share knowledge of movement disciplines related to theatrical practices. In this way, we expand the field of human figure drawing.
