Christian Baumgartner

Christian BaumgartnerChristian Baumgartner is an acclaimed actor and director born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1971. With a depth of experience from childhood, he took his first formal steps into the performing arts when he was only fifteen. His early education was shaped by encounters with noted figures such as Juan Carlos de Petre and Verónica Artigas in Caracas’ theater scene. In 1996, Baumgartner relocated to Mexico City where he pursued a degree in performing arts under the guidance of Ludwik Margules at El Foro Teatro Contemporáneo. Influences from esteemed directors during his studies further enriched his craft.

Having acted in over 15 professional plays, some of his noteworthy performances include works by A. Camus and W. Shakespeare, under the direction of Margules. Contributions to Mexican theater also extended to “The Island” directed by Alonso Ruiz-Palacios, and “Voces de la Alhóndiga,” directed by Hetzmek Hernandez. His tenure with the acrobatic troupe, Gravityworks spanned eight years, during which he also co-founded Gravitykids and the New School of Circus Arts.

Baumgartner’s expertise has been channeled into teaching, where he has mentored students in expression through movement as well as acting, directing, and stagecraft.  He currently resides in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato.
