Description

From time to time, we hit a wall when we are creating. It’s as if something has gated off that part of our brain where all our clever ideas live. One of the best ways to find our way back and reconnect is through, ‘Play.’

Improvisational theatre games can open your imagination by allowing you to play with other actors while creating a story together.

This workshop invites students to approach acting in a playful way. Through a series of improvisational exercises participants will learn tools to spark their imagination and refresh the creative process.

About Christian Baumgartner

Christian Baumgartner is an acclaimed actor and director born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1971. With a depth of experience from childhood, he took his first formal steps into the performing arts when he was only fifteen. His early education was shaped by encounters with noted figures such as Juan Carlos de Petre and Verónica Artigas in Caracas’ theater scene. In 1996, Baumgartner relocated to Mexico City where he pursued a degree in performing arts under the guidance of Ludwik Margules at El Foro Teatro Contemporáneo. Influences from esteemed directors during his studies further enriched his craft.

Having acted in over 15 professional plays, some of his noteworthy performances include works by A. Camus and W. Shakespeare, under the direction of Margules. Contributions to Mexican theater also extended to “The Island” directed by Alonso Ruiz-Palacios, and “Voces de la Alhóndiga,” directed by Hetzmek Hernandez. His tenure with the acrobatic troupe, Gravityworks spanned eight years, during which he also co-founded Gravitykids and the New School of Circus Arts.

Baumgartner’s expertise has been channeled into teaching, where he has mentored students in expression through movement as well as acting, directing, and stagecraft.  He currently resides in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato.
